By Kim, a Sister Study participant from Arizona

My name is Kim Welter and I became a member of the Sister Study this year to honor my older sister, Becky Crown. Becky was diagnosed eight years ago and fought with dignity and grace for those eight years. Becky passed away at age 44 in December of 2003 after a long, valiant fight. She was positive, tenacious, and brave through each part of her illness, including many great times of remission. I hope that everyone does all they can, including being in this study, to help Becky and other women so they will not lose their sister like I did. Becky continued to travel, fish, earn her Master's Degree, and never give in to the cancer for those 8 years. She died being a member of an experimental study on bone marrow transplants so that others could have hope. I miss her every day and will miss her all my life. She was truly my favorite person in the world and I want to honor her memory by inviting everyone to be part of the Sister Study.
