Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise campaign
The Sister Study is proud to shine a spotlight on Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise campaign. This initiative is designed to empower African American women to help end breast cancer forever by—
- Mobilizing the community to ensure that women everywhere have access to the care they need;
- Dispelling the myths in the African American community that prevent women from getting early treatment for breast cancer; and
- Empowering women to make a promise to reclaim their lives and their health, and to be strong advocates in their communities.
One of the Circle of Promise’s efforts in 2008 will be to help the Sister Study recruit more African American women. The Circle of Promise inspires African American women to be good to themselves mentally, spiritually and physically, which includes participating in potentially life saving research such as the Sister Study. Our partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise campaign deepens this national partner’s commitment and the Sister Study’s commitment to ensure African American women are represented in the Sister Study, so future generations are less likely to face breast cancer.
